“Arise Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see. For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you.
Isaiah 60:1 (NLT)
Now is the time for the Believer to shine! That runs counter to everything that we
see, hear, and experience these days but now is the time. We don’t have to
succumb to the darkness that surrounds us. Why? We have the light of Christ
within us (John 8:12). This light should shine so bright that it reveals the
Glory of God in our lives!
Growing up in church we would sing a song that was inspired by our anchor scripture:
Arise, Shine for the light is come (repeat)
And the Glory of the Lord is risen
The Glory of the Lord has come
The Glory of the Lord has risen upon me
I can remember this song so vividly. I remember how the church would sway from
side-to-side when we sang this song and how it made you feel. I didn’t quite understand the context from the scripture as a child but I knew that when we sang the final verse that it meant something. I know now that as Believers, we carry the Glory of the Lord! I also know that it is a privilege to do so but it also comes with much responsibility. All the glory belongs to God (Revelations 4:11) but His plan is for us to be the light so that others can experience His glory in the earth.
When we walk into any room whether it is our home, our job, or any other environment, things have to change because of the Glory of the Lord. We stand out because of the Glory of the Lord. The people who we come in contact with on a daily basis should experience the Glory of the Lord when they come in contact with us. I am speaking from a practical standpoint because when you carry the Glory of the Lord, people immediately recognize that you are a cut above the rest. This is where the responsibility kicks in because people are looking for answers and we have the solution! Each day is a new opportunity to Rise and Shine because this is how God gets the glory out of our lives.
