Learn To Trust

“Trust and rely confidently on the Lord with all of your heart and do not rely on your insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, and He will make your paths straight and smooth (removing obstacles that block your way).”

- Proverbs 3:5-6

So many of us are experiencing unexpected challenges in this season. Whether it is related to work, our marriages, our children, our health, or personal struggles, these challenges may cause us to wonder, “is this really the plan of God for my life?”

There are those who believe that you shouldn’t question God but He can handle your questions. I often throw in a “God, what is really going on?” during my prayer time or even at random! Not only can He handle it, He already knows that you are going to ask (Psalms 139:2). Most importantly, He cares and He is concerned about what concerns you.

Learning to trust God requires us to remain in constant relationship with Him. As we prioritize this relationship we will begin to see how Trustworthy God is. His track record in our lives is proven and when we recall His faithfulness, we can have assurance that He will continue to direct our path. Learning to trust God is a daily lesson that we will encounter until the Lord calls us home. Thankfully God’s Word has already given us the answer to the tests that will follow this particular lesson: Acknowledge God, Recognize His hand, and His goodness and He will direct our path.

Lastly, let’s take some time this week to document God’s goodness in our lives. You can do so by creating a mental or physical (journal, pray journal) list of challenges that you know you would still be facing if God had not intervened. Thank Him for working on your behalf and let this list serve as a reminder to continually put your trust in Him.
