Grace For Today

“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes up.”

Matthew 6:34 (msg)

Matthew 6:34 is a very familiar scripture. The Message Bible translation is deserving of a mic drop. This scripture always convicts me because I have the tendency to minimize God’s Grace which is His provision. I find myself rushing ahead often and if you’ve ever done this, you already know how overwhelming and draining this habit can be. This can also be a very costly habit because we can’t get back the time, energy, and/or resources that we spend when we choose to operate in a poverty mindset.

It sounds extreme but if we take the time to consider the reasons why we don’t rely on or access the daily Grace that our Heavenly Father gives, it is likely due to one of the following reasons:

Doubt-We don’t activate our faith to believe that God has already given us the Grace that we need for each day.

Worry- We fear that the Grace that we need won’t be available or made available to us at the right time.

Pride (Arrogance)-We act as if we don’t need the Grace that God has in store for us so we operate in our flesh.

All three are reflective of a lack of trust in God’s faithfulness and His ability to do what only He can. These things lead to a depleted existence and ultimately spiritual poverty.

So how do we rely on and fully access the Grace that God gives us for each day? Let’s look at Matthew 6:33 from the Message Bible: “ Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.”

Throughout the week remind yourself of this fact, “There is Grace available for me today!”
