“The God whom we worship is not a weak and incompetent God. He is able to beat back gigantic waves of opposition and to bring low prodigious mountains of evil. The ringing testimony of the Christian faith is that God is able.”
-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Today is the day that we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King I was doing a little mommy research so that I could help Madison understand the significance of today and I ran across this quote. Immediately I felt that I needed to take the time to encourage you today to place your hope and trust in God.
The month of January is moving quickly and so many things are taking place in and around us. The spirit of worry, doubt, fear, and discouragement are constantly looming but remember, God is able. There is absolutely nothing that is too hard for Him. Nothing has or will ever catch Him by surprise. He is faithful and His Word is true. And He is for YOU.
Here are a few scriptures that will help you recall God’s power and presence in your life. I encourage you to commit them to memory and to quote them in your own hearing regularly:
“ Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us”
Ephesians 3:20 (amplified)
“Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalms 46:10 (amplified)
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With people [as far as it depends on them] it is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Matthew 19:26 (amplified)
“For I am the Lord, I do not change [but remain faithful to My covenant with you]”
Malachi 3:6a (amplified)
What then shall we say to all these things? If God is for us, who can be [successful] against us?
Romans 8:31 (amplified)
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can [mere] man do to me?
Psalms 118: 6 (amplified)
