Embracing Real Strength

"So I am well pleased with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, and with difficulties, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak [in human strength], then I am strong [truly able, truly powerful, truly drawing from God’s strength]." 2 Corinthians 12:10 (amp) Let’s normalize embracing our weaknesses. I know you may be thinking, “the title says just the opposite!” You’re absolutely right but the only way that we can embrace real strength is when we acknowledge our constant need for the power of Christ in our life.

Paul reached this place and that is why he learned to boast in Christ’s strength. Real strength. He was given a “thorn in the flesh,” a weakness, that he embraced because He knew that it would always keep him in a place of humility and total dependence on Christ. He came to fully understand the sufficient grace of God (2 Corinthians 12:9).

So what area(s) of weakness (or areas of needed growth) are you wrestling with? The first step is to acknowledge it. The next step is to reframe your thinking about it’s presence in your life. Consider the fact that despite it’s existence, you are still standing!

You are standing because the power of Christ continues to manifest itself in your life. I personally get excited about that! That leads us to the final step and to the title of the devotional. Embrace the power of Christ because that is where you will find real strength!
