“Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above (the heavenly things), not on things that are on the earth (which have only temporal value).
Colossians 3:2 (amp)
There are so many things vying for our attention as women. There are things that deserve our attention because we have to steward them accordingly such as our relationships, careers, health, and we can add to this list. However, there are things that we need to give less attention to because they tend to suck the life out of us and create fear, doubt, worry, and anxiety. We often are so consumed by these things that we forfeit the peace of God in our lives. This is a no judgement zone ladies. We’ve all been there. We may be in this place right now but we can choose to adjust our thinking today!
Adjusting our thinking requires daily action on our part. It isn’t a one-time fix or a button that we can click on and off. It’s a way of life that will require us to fix our eyes on Christ continuously. We can’t do this without eliminating distractions and excess. Eliminating distractions may require us to turn off the tv and power down our devices. Yep, I said it! When we make a decision to do this, we must then fill up that space with prayer, praise, and the Word of God. This may be challenging but it will be worth it. We can’t adjust our thinking without focusing our attention on our Heavenly Father.
When we set our mind on Christ, He will fill us with His peace. He will bring wisdom and understanding. He will guide us and help us to thrive even in the midst of chaos. I don’t know of a better exchange! So here’s the challenge for the week and moving forward: Look Up!
Here are a few of my favorite scriptures that help me to adjust my thinking:
Romans 12:2
Philippians 4:8
2 Corinthians 10:5
